ORDER:
1.
A large number of 3- wheeled contract carriages with a seating capacity
of 4 in all including driver are registered in Hyderabad and adding
to the existing number. At present, there are 68,469, 3- wheeled contract
carriages on the active rolls of Hyderabad. Road network being very
limited, they are posing problems of congestion in road traffic and
traffic control, some times leading to accidents. At the same time,
most of these vehicles are being run on petrol 2-stroke engines and
thereby causing atmospheric pollution.

Keeping in view of above position, the Transport Commissioner, Andhra
Pradesh, Hyderabad has felt it necessary to have control over the number
of 3-wheeled contract carriages in Hyderabad and their plying on certain
roads/ routes in the interests of traveling public in particular and
citizen of Hyderabad in general.

The Government after careful examination of the above position, have
decided to restrict the number of 3- wheeled contract carriages in Hyderabad
and to issue fresh notification in super session of the earlier notification
issued in the reference first read above.

Accordingly the following notification will be published in the Extra-
ordinary issue of the Andhra Pradesh Gazette, dated 6th August, 2002.

NOTIFICATION
|
In exercise of the powers conferred by clause (a) of sub- section (3)
of Section 74 of Motor Vehicles Act, 1988 (Central Act 59 of 1988),
and in accordance with direction of the Government of India, Ministry
of Surface Transport (Transport Wing) in its notification in SO. 700(E),
dated 12-9-1990, and in super session of the notification issued in
G.O.Ms.No. 14, TR&B (Tr. II) Department dated: 11-02-2002 the Government
of Andhra Pradesh hereby restrict the number of 3- wheeled contract
carriages in Hyderabad at 68,469 existing permits as on 5-8-2002 and
accordingly, direct the Regional Transport Authority Hyderabad to restrict
the 3- wheeled contract carriages covered by permit as per Rule 211
of A.P. Motor Vehicle Rules, 1989 shall be by LPG driven 3- wheeled
contract carriages only 6-8-2002 is the date form which no new permit
in respect of the 3-wheeled contract carriages shall be granted by the
Regional Transport Authority, Hyderabad.
